Bookings open 12 months before the season starts, and popular tours often fill up early in summer, so we recommend booking as soon as your travel dates are set. Last-minute bookings may be available up to 72 hrs before departure, depending on space.
Yes, in most cases you can change your tour date, time or number of guests, depending on availability. Please contact us or your travel agency at least 7 days before your tour to request a change. Most tours offer a full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before your tour date. Policies can vary by tour organizer or travel agency, so check your booking confirmation for details.
Yes! Many of our tours can be booked as a private experience for your family or group. Private tours can often be tailored to your schedule and interests. Please contact us at 907-313-4423 or [email protected] for availability and pricing.
Alaska weather can change quickly, so dress in layers and bring a waterproof rain jacket on every tour. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Hiking boots are best for hikes, and sneakers work well for most other tours. For water tours, bring an extra pair of socks. A hat, gloves and a camera are always a good idea! Many of our tours provide rubber boots, rain ponchos or extra outerwear, so check your tour’s details to see what’s included.
Skagway tours: Most tours include a light snack of granola bars and/or cookies, along with hot drinks or water. Longer driving tours also include a picnic-style lunch, such as wraps or sandwiches and chips.
Haines tours: Longer tours include a picnic-style lunch, such as wraps or sandwiches, chips and cookies, along with hot drinks and water.
Dietary needs, such as gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and allergies, can usually be accommodated with 48 hours’ notice.
Minimum ages vary by tour. Our scenic drives and wildlife tours welcome guests of all ages. Most active tours, like zip-lining, rafting, kayaking and hiking, are open to ages 6–8 and up. UTV and mountaineering tours require guests to be at least 12, and UTV drivers must be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license. Check your tour’s details for its specific age requirement.

Yes. Our tours are designed around cruise ship schedules, and we plan every itinerary to get you back to your ship with time to spare. Tour times are set to match your ship’s time in port, so just let us know your ship’s name when you book.
Yes. In Skagway, your guide meets you at the end of the pier where your ship is docked, and round-trip transportation is included on all tours. If you book independently from cruise ship, be sure to inform us which ship you are sailing with for proper pick up location.
Our guides are experienced, professional naturalists who love sharing Alaska with our guests. They’re full of knowledge about the area’s wildlife, history, geology and Tlingit culture, plus a few “real Alaska” stories of their own. Safety always comes first, and every guide is trained to make sure you have a fun, comfortable experience. All guides are certified in first aid and CPR.
It depends on the tour. Each tour is rated by activity level:
Easy: Scenic drives, wildlife tours, boat cruises and float trips. Guests should be able to get in and out of a vehicle or boat and walk short distances on uneven ground.
Moderate: Kayaking, canoeing, zip-lining and coastal hikes. Guests should be comfortable paddling or walking for a few hours.
Strenuous: Longer hikes such as Mount Riley, the Chilkoot Trail and the Skagway Adventure Hike, with steep climbs over roots and rocks.
Very strenuous: The White Pass Mountaineering Adventure, an all-day, off-trail climb for experienced hikers only.
Our tours run rain or shine. Rain is part of the Alaska experience, so dress in layers and bring rain gear. Many tours also provide ponchos, rubber boots or extra outerwear. If conditions aren’t safe, your guide may adjust the route. For example, ocean kayaking tours move to sheltered Chilkoot Lake when the sea is rough. If we need to cancel a tour for safety reasons, you’ll receive a full refund or the option to re-book.
Yes, on most tours. Restrooms are available at or near our meeting points in Skagway and Haines, so you can stop before your tour starts. Many tours also include restroom stops along the way, at places like trail heads, Chilkoot Lake and our jet boat base, and the Eldred Rock vessel has a restroom onboard. On hikes and paddling tours, facilities may be limited once you’re on the trail or the water, so plan to use the restroom before you set out.
Yes! Many of our tours are great for families. Scenic drives and wildlife tours welcome kids of all ages, and children under 2 ride free on our Historic Gold Rush Scenic Driving Tour. Zip-lining, rafting, kayaking and many hikes are perfect for kids ages 6–8 and up, and child pricing is available on some tours for ages 8–11. UTV and mountaineering tours are best for teens 12 and up. Check your tour’s details for its minimum age and activity level to find the right fit for your family.
Some of our tours can. Our Yukon Scenic Drive to Carcross welcomes guests with limited mobility who can climb 4 steps into the van, and collapsible wheelchairs and strollers can be stored onboard. The Wilderness Odyssey by Jet Boat in Haines also has storage for collapsible wheelchairs, though guests need to be able to walk about 200 yards up and down a steep dock ramp. Most active tours, like hiking, kayaking, rafting and zip-lining, aren’t wheelchair accessible. Please note any mobility needs when you book, or contact us at 907-313-4423 or [email protected] so we can help you find the right tour.
